On the other hand, RCB overcame a similarly high-stakes game against the Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday to secure a top two berth.
Stand-in captain Jitesh Sharma led his troops valiantly and came up with a tremendous knock of 85 not out off 33 deliveries as RCB stormed past LSG’s gigantic score of 227/3 in an excellent chase.
Giving Jitesh company was middle-order maverick Mayank Agarwal, whose quickfire 41* never allowed the asking rate to jump out of RCB’s grasp. In a collective effort, the Jitesh-Agarwal duo maximised the fine start provided by RCB openers Phil Salt (30) and Virat Kohli (54).
Kohli continued his rich vein of form for the side, scoring his eighth half-century of the season.
