Pete Davidson revealed why he believes his high-profile relationships have faced more scrutiny than other celebrities also navigating dating in the public eye.
While looking back on the media frenzy around his past romances, following his whirlwind five-month romance with Ariana Grande in 2018, the comedian, 31, said ‘it was pretty humiliating and upsetting’ to make headlines every time he stepped out with a new woman.
‘Everyone is dating everyone and it’s Hollywood,’ the Saturday Night Live alum told Page Six. ‘Look at Paul Mescal, Timmy [Chalamet], Barry Keough. But because I’m ugly, they wrote about me. I was harassed for like five years and it made my life a living hell.’
Davidson said the world’s fixation on his love life felt particularly ’embarrassing’ because, as an actor, he just wanted to be written about for his work.
‘I was one of the youngest-ever cast members on SNL and all that got pushed to the side because of who I was dating,’ the star explained.
Still, the Meet Cute star had nothing but nice things to say about his exes, who he described as ‘pretty amazing women.’

He also noted that when those relationships ended, it was always amicable and ‘cool.’
As for his current relationship status, he told the outlet: ‘Over the last six months, I’m not dating. I’m starting to turn my life around.’
Davidson previously admitted to being baffled by the interest in his love life – which was thrust into the spotlight when he began dating Grande.
He notably popped the big question after the pair dated for only a few weeks, but the Wicked actress called off the engagement later that same year.
Davidson was then linked to other celebrities such as Kate Beckinsale, Margaret Qualley and Kaia Gerber.
In 2021, the comedian sparked up a relationship with Kim Kardashian after the two first crossed paths when she was a guest star on Saturday Night Live.
However, after nine months of dating, their split was revealed in August 2022.
Pete then briefly dated supermodel Emily Ratajkowski and started a relationship with his Bodies Bodies Bodies co-star, Chase Sui Wonders in 2023.

In addition to Grande, Davidson famously dated Kim Kardashian, Kate Beckinsale, Kaia Gerber, Margaret Qualley and Madelyn Cline (pictured with Kardashian at the 2022 Met Gala)

Most recently, the actor dated Outer Banks star Madelyn Cline but the pair broke up in July 2024 after nearly one year together.
Despite dating some of the most well-known women in the world, Pete has admitted that he can’t understand why his love life attracts so much attention.
During an interview on the Real Ones podcast in 2023, Davidson expressed: ‘I’m in my 20s and I’ve dated people. And for some reason, that’s very crazy and interesting to people. I don’t think it’s interesting.’
‘I’ve been in show business for, like, half my life almost – for 14 or 15 years and on a national TV show. In 12 years I’ve dated 10 people.’
He added, ‘I don’t think that’s that crazy, but to some people, that’s very interesting. That became all anyone would talk about.’
Pete also stated that he wished his comedy work was the focus of the public’s attention – instead of his love life.
‘Suddenly you’re in this zeitgeist and that has nothing to do with the work. And that’s a really s****y feeling. I became more known before the work was there, but I was always working.’
