The tourist season has begun in Himachal Pradesh, leading to a noticeable increase in tourist activity in Shimla and Manali. However, both tourists and locals are still awaiting snowfall. Meanwhile, the dry cold has intensified, and temperatures have started to drop in Manali.

According to reports, more tourists are visiting Manali on weekends. To attract tourists, the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Corporation is offering discounts of 20% to 40% at various hotels. Baldev Singh Okta, Director General of the Tourism Development Corporation in Manali, stated that these discounts are available until December 22.

For instance, Hotel Kunjum in Manali is offering a 30% discount, Log Hut 40%, Rohtang Manalsu 20%, and Hamdimba Cottage 30%. Additionally, discounts between 20% and 40% are available at Tourism Development Corporation hotels in Kullu and Keylong in the Lahaul-Spiti district. Tourists can book these hotels online.

Snow On Peaks

Light snowfall was observed in Rohtang Pass and other high-altitude areas of Manali in October, but lower areas near Manali are yet to receive snow. Snowfall is also anticipated in Lahaul-Spiti, with light snowfall recorded near the Atal Tunnel on November 11.

Manali residents say that winter has set in, causing a drop in morning and evening temperatures. However, in the absence of recent rain and snow, temperatures tend to rise slightly during the afternoons. Locals are eagerly waiting for the first snowfall in the valley.

Weather Forecast

Light rain and snowfall are expected in Himachal Pradesh on November 15 and 16, while the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for fog in the state’s plains. Bajaura in Kullu has recorded the highest temperature at around 27 degree Celsius, while the lowest was recorded in Tabo at minus-5.6 degree Celsius. Manali’s minimum temperature has dropped to 5 degree Celsius.
