PlayStation Network is DOWN: Gamers say hours-long outage stopping them playing games such as Fortnite, Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto is ‘beyond frustrating’

Playstation Network has been experiencing a multi-hour outage leaving gamers unable to play.

Sony’s PSN status page shows account management, gaming and social, PlayStation Video, PlayStation Store, and the PlayStation Direct website are all dealing with issues at the moment.

As a result, gamers have been left unable to play online aspects of games such as Fortnite, Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto and Marvel Rivals.

According to Downdetector, the issues first started around 11pm last night with up to 14,000 reports of outages at the time.

PlayStation has said on its X page: ‘We are aware some users might be currently experiencing issues with PSN.’

Following this, users have taken to social media to express their frustration.

One user on X said: ‘Sony should give everyone free PS Plus for 6+ Months as a result of this outage.’

Another user said: ‘PSN is still down. That’s crazy! Millions of people still can’t play online or some offline games because it needs stupid verification to start the game. – total failure from Sony team after 15+ hours now.’

User Jeff Thigpen, from Dallas in the United States, said he had been unable to access the PSN for 10 hours.

The 48-year-old told the BBC: ‘At my job, I have an hourly rotation and during my bread,k I’ll occasionally get on my PlayStation Portal.’

‘Tonight I tried and was unable to play any of the games I purchased.

‘Paying a monthly fee for their service is one thing but not being able to play games that we’ve purchased is something that’s beyond frustrating.’
