Police arrest man accused of carrying bow and arrow after colleges were put into lockdown

A man has been arrested after being accused of carrying a bow and arrow at a college.

West Mercia Police said they were called to Herefordshire and Ludlow College in Folly Lane.

It is understood that the man was arrested in a Wetherspoon pub in Commercial Road, the Hererford Times reports. 

The colleges on Folly lane were immediately put into lockdown, but at 4pm it was deemed safe for students and staff to leave.

A spokesperson for the college said: ‘The incident has now been fully resolved and all 3 colleges will be open as usual next week.’

Police said they believe this to be an isolated incident, and officers will remain in the area to offer reassurance to students, staff and the community.
