Polish Jet Scramble As Russia Pounds Lviv, Kuleba Resigns As Zelensky Seeks “New Energy” For Ukraine

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba became the latest top official from the President Volodymyr Zelensky-led government to resign on September 4. His resignation, announced in a handwritten note, came ahead of an expected major government reshuffle. An overnight Russian drone and missile attack on Ukraine’s Lviv killed seven people, including three children, as per local officials. NATO-member Poland scrambled jets as Russia launched air strikes on Lviv close to its border. The strikes came a day after the war’s “deadliest single attack” this year. On September 3, Russia hit a military institute in Ukraine’s central town of Poltava with two ballistic missiles, killing 51 and wounding hundreds more.
