The Lok Sabha on Monday witnessed a fiery exchange of words between the treasury and opposition benches over the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh opened the debate in the Lower House on Operation Sindoor while Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi led the opposition’s counter.

BJP allies– Janata Dal (U) and Telugu Desam Party (TDP)– also came to applaud the government for the decision taken during Operation Sindoor, in which nine terror camps were targeted in Pakistan and PoK.

Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh, Janata Dal (U) and Union Minister, questioned Gogoi and said he did not speak a single word in praise of the Indian armed forces.

Reacting to Gogoi’s charge that Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not visit Pahalgam and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi went there, Singh said, “Kashmir was visited by those who just wanted to have fun… but the Prime Minister had to act.”

In his speech, Gogoi also asked why PM Modi addressed an event in Bihar, where polls are scheduled to be held later this year, just two days after the Pahalgam attack. To This, Lallan Singh said, “PM Modi went to Bihar for Panchayati Raj Diwas. PM from Bihar announced befitting reply will be given to the Pahalgam attack.”

Continuing his attack on Gogoi, Singh said, “Gaurav Gogoi did not condemn Pakistan even once….you do politics for vote.. PM Modi does politics for the welfare of the country.”

“9 terrorist camps were destroyed in Operation Sindoor. Not even a single Pakistani citizen was injured in the attack. The leaders of the terrorists were crying — Masood Azhar Sahib, Hafiz Saeed, all of them were crying that our people have been killed. Gogoi ji, you do politics for votes, while Modi ji does politics for the country,” he added.

The JDU leader also said several terrorist attacks took place during the tenure of Congress-led UPA between 2004-2014, but the regime did not dare to fight terrorism.

Praising Operation Sindoor, TDP MP Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu said India has sent a very strong message that India will wait, but India will never forget.

“This was not aggression but assertive deterrence. I salute our armed forces. This action was possible due to the bold leadership of PM Modi. Under his leadership, India moved from reactive to resolute, from strategic silence to strategic sovereignty. We have seen it with Uri and Balakot strikes,” he said.
