Premier League giants Manchester United fought back to salvage a point at the Goodison Park on Saturday as Ruben Amorim’s men rallied back from a two-goal deficit to finish 2-2.
Beto and Abdoulaye Doucoure put the Toffees ahead with first-half strikes, before Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte pegged the visitors back on level terms to earn a point on the road.
Beto broke the deadlock just before the 20th-minute mark to put David Moyes’ men ahead with a left-footed effort on the back of a Doucoure header inside the area.
It took less than fifteen minutes for the Toffees to double their lead as Doucoure turned scorer as he pounced on the spillage after Andre Onana managed to thwart a shot from Jack Harrison.
The hosts took a two-goal lead into the break and it seemed as though Moyes had returned to haunt his former employers at United, but the Red Devils’ skipper Fernandes breathed life into the game with a 72nd-minute strike that cut the deficit in half. The Portuguese maestro netted directly from a free-kick to give United their first attempt on target of the game, and with it their first goal.
United pegged the Toffees back eight minutes later as Uruguyan Ugarte fired one past Jordan Pickford to make it 2-2 in the game at Goodison Park.
Everton jumped to 12th in the league following the draw as they added their 31st point of the campaign in 26 outings thus far, while United remained 15th with 30 points to their names.
