Manchester United have reportedly agreed to pay Victor Osimhen’s buyout fee while also making a verbal offer to Napoli. The 26-year-old has been on the radars of several Premier League teams this season. Amid the ongoing transfer speculations, Sports Digitale journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu revealed that the Red Devils agreed to pay Napoli the £65 million required to sign him in the summer. They face some heated competition with Paris Saint-Germain who are also looking to swoop in the young striker. “PSG and Manchester United made their verbal offer to the player’s side regarding the salary and contract period,” Sabuncuoglu said, as per Football 365.
Osimhen’s release fee was recently reduced to £65 million from £100 million after a loan move to Galatasaray. The Super Lig outfit were initially considered as the favourites to sign the 26-year-old attacker, however, the Istanbul-club have given up hope of securing a permanent deal for the Napoli striker. Yagiz Sabuncuoglu explained why the possibility of an agreement had decreased. “Victor Osimhen is about to sign a world-famous management company. In fact, these negotiations are intermediated by a player from Real Madrid. What does this mean? The possibility of an agreement with Galatasaray in June has decreased a lot,” he said.
Yagiz Sabuncuoglu also highlighted that Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain agreeing to pay the release clause proved a major blow for Galatasaray. The Super Lig club just cannot afford to finance the deal because of the astronomical buyout fee. “Because both clubs agreed to pay Napoli the release fee. It is very difficult for Galatasaray to compete with these two clubs. He is probably leaving at the end of the season,” Sabuncuoglu concluded.
Osimhen missed out on a move to Chelsea during the summer transfer window after the Serie A outfit made him available. The Serie A side attempted to usher the 26-year-old out of the door after a clash with the club’s chiefs. Romelu Lukaku was signed as his replacement. Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain plotted deals for the Nigerian international but failed to complete a deal. This led Osimhen to join Galatasaray on loan as a short-term solution. While Osimhen had to move out of Serie A, it didn’t have any effect on his goalscoring form. He has found the net 17 times in 23 appearances for the Turkish giants this season.
