Heading into the final week of the season, with the title and relegations already etched in stone, there is still plenty left to play for as five teams, Manchester City, Newcastle, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Nottingham vie for the third, fourth and fifth berths in the Premier League with an eye on a ticket to the elite European UEFA Champions League next season.

Liverpool have wrapped up the PL crown, while Arsenal punched their ticket to the upcoming season of the UCL with their win over Newcastle to secure the second place. At the other end of the spectrum, Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton have all been condemned to the drop to the Championship.

City, place third with 68 points are ahead of fourth-place Newcastle, fifth-place Chelsea, and sixth-place Villa, who each have 66 points, while seventh-place Nottingham have 65 points.

City, who close out the season away at Fulham,  are placed higher due to their superior goal difference of 26 compared to their rivals, know that a draw is almost certain to secure a top-five finish.

Newcastle, who have a GD of 22 and Chelsea with a goal difference of 20, have much better goal differences than Villa, who have just 9, making them almost certain to qualify for the Champions League with wins.

Chelsea faces the toughest matchup, playing away at Nottingham, while Newcastle hosts Everton and Aston Villa tour Manchester United, who are languishing at 16th in the league.

Forest must defeat Chelsea and quire either Newcastle or Villa to lose or draw their games to secure Champions League qualification. This would be a significant achievement, considering Nuno Espirito Santo’s team was battling relegation last season. A sixth-place finish guarantees a spot in the Europa League.

Ahead of the final round of Premier League games, there is a significant match at Wembley Stadium on Saturday to determine which team will play in the top flight next season.

Sunderland and Sheffield United square up in the Championship playoff final to join Leeds and Burnley in being promoted from the second tier.

The playoff final is the most lucrative one-off match in the world of football as the promoted side stands to gain an estimated revenue boost of around 200 million pounds in projected matchday, broadcast, and commercial revenue, and much more if the team survives its first season back in the top flight.

While, Sunderland, who experienced PL football previously in the year 2017, stand to earn the entire projected injection of money, for Sheffield United, the revenue boost would be an estimated180 million quid as the club still benefits from parachute payments from its last stint in the Premier League in the 2023-24 season.
