Rafael Nadal’s racquet from his 2017 French Open victory was auctioned for a whopping $157,333.20 at a Prestige Memorabilia auction.
Nadal got the better of Stanislas Wawrinka in the final of the 2017 edition of the French Open at Roland Garros with the Babolat racquet that fetched a high price at the auction, surpassing the previous record fee for a tennis racquet also held by Nadal.
Nadal used the racquet throughout the 2017 clay-court major, which culminated in a 6-2, 6-3, 6-1 win over Swiss Wawrinka in the summit clash.

The Prestige Memorabilia description of the racquet read, “To find a Grand Slam Final-used racket from Rafael Nadal is rare. To find one photo-matched across an entire clay season, capped by a French Open title, is unprecedented.”
The 2017 French Open title is earmarked by Nadal’s dominance at the event as he managed to clinch the crown without dropping a set throughout the entirety of the tournament. Nadal’s win in the 2017 season was his tenth title in Paris, as the Spaniard went on to record 14 titles at the French Capital City in his illustrious career.
Nadal’s tally of 14 victories in Paris stands alone in the count of multiple titles at a single Grand Slam event, with Margaret Court’s 11 Australian Open triumphs the closest behind the Spaniard’s record in France.
Nadal was feted at the Roland Garros recently in a ceremony to celebrate his incredible legacy as the Spaniard, who boasts an astounding record of 112-4 at RG, was given a tribute befitting his stature as the undisputed emperor of the clay court.
The Spaniard received the rare honour of having a plaque displaying his shoeprint at the iconic Court Philippe Chatrier.
