Ravindra Jadeja has developed to be one of India’s most reliable players in Tests. The soon-to-be-concluded Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, in likely his last tour of England, has been the prime example of what he can give India at his best in some of the most difficult circumstances, regularly standing as a leader in a team of youth.

In ten innings across the five Tests in the series, Jadeja smashed 516 runs at an average of 86. It was his personal best in a Test series and included five half-centuries and a ton, capped with a 77-ball 53 in the last innings at the Oval that helped India score 396/10 and set a challenging target of 374 for England.

With it, he made it ten 50-plus scores in Tests in England while batting at No. 6 or lower (five each at 6 and 7). It’s the highest by a visiting player, surpassing nine by the legendary West Indies former captain, Garfield Sobers. The latter took only 16 matches for five half-centuries and four hundreds, but Jadeja’s record in 27 innings couldn’t be understated either, considering only five other visiting players have more than five 50-plus scores here.

Jadeja gets most 50-plus scores at No.6 or lower in an away Test series

This was his sixth 50-plus score in the series, which is also the joint most at number six or lower in any away series for a cricketer.

  • 6 – Gerry Alexander (West Indies) vs Australia, 1960/61
  • 6 – Wasim Raja (Pakistan) vs West Indies, 1976/77
  • 6 – Ravindra Jadeja (India) vs England, 2025

His total runs, 516, were also the third highest at number six or lower in any away series.

  • 722 – Garfield Sobers (West Indies) vs England, 1966
  • 517 – Wasim Raja (Pakistan) vs West Indies, 1976/77
  • 516 – Ravindra Jadeja (India) vs England, 2025*
  • 506 – Steve Waugh (Australia) vs England, 1989

In a series where India have looked for batting depth as much as economical bowling from its all-rounders, Jadeja has put his hand up the highest. He also took seven wickets in the five Tests with an economy rate of 3.51. He’d hope to help India bowl England out in time on Sunday and Monday to level the series and make it an even more memorable one, personally and collectively.
