A swathe of records could tumble at the SW19 as Djokovic and Alcaraz go in search of the prestigious Wimbledon title.

The 2025 edition of Wimbledon is right around the corner as Serbian icon Novak Djokovic and Spanish holder Carlos Alcaraz set their sights on the prestigious title at SW19 in the English Capital of London.

24-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic is on a quest for his 25th major title at Wimbledon, where he has already triumphed seven times, most recently in 2022. Only Swiss legend Roger Federer has more men’s singles titles at SW19, with eight, and Djokovic aims to match his long-term rival’s record.

Alcaraz enters the prestigious event aiming for a hat-trick of the coveted title. The Spaniard carries momentum from his 2025 French Open victory at Roland Garros, where he overcame Italian Sinner in the final, clawing back from a championship point down.

Djokovic and Alcaraz have contested the finals of the Wimbledon Major for the past two editions, with the young Spaniard emerging victorious on both occasions.

Records that could be rewritten at this year’s Wimbledon:

Novak Djokovic Stands In Line To,

Tie Federer’s Wimbledon Record

Djokovic could win his 8th Gentlemen’s Singles title at Wimbledon, equalling Roger Federer’s Open Era record.

Clinch his 25th Grand Slam Title – An All-Time First

With a victory, Djokovic would become the first player—man or woman—to win 25 singles Grand Slam titles, breaking his current tie with Margaret Court (24).

Extend Slam Finals and Quarterfinals Records

Djokovic already holds the records for the most Slam final appearances (37) and quarterfinals (62). He could extend both totals in 2025.

Tie Chris Evert’s Semifinal Record

A semifinal run would mark Djokovic’s 52nd in Grand Slams, tying Chris Evert’s all-time record. He already holds the men’s record.

Add to Most Grand Slam Match Wins

Djokovic enters Wimbledon with 387 Grand Slam match wins, the most ever. Every victory at SW19 would raise that total even higher.

Become The Oldest Wimbledon Champion in the Open Era

If he lifts the trophy, Djokovic (38) would surpass Federer (35 years, 342 days in 2017) as the oldest male Wimbledon winner in the Open Era.

Become The Oldest Grand Slam Singles Champion (Male or Female)

Djokovic could surpass Ken Rosewall’s all-time record as the oldest Grand Slam singles winner. Rosewall was 37 when he won the 1972 Australian Open.

While Alcaraz Could,

Become The First Spanish Player to Win Wimbledon 3 Times

Alcaraz could become the first-ever Spaniard to win Wimbledon’s Gentlemen’s Singles title three times. Both he and Rafael Nadal currently have two titles each.

Clinch The Channel Slam in Back-to-Back Years

If Alcaraz wins Wimbledon after the French Open, he’ll join Bjorn Borg as the only male player in the Open Era to achieve the Channel Slam in consecutive years. Borg did it from 1978 to 1980.

Register A Three-Peat at Wimbledon

Alcaraz could become just the third man in the 21st century to win Wimbledon three years in a row, joining Roger Federer (2006–08) and Novak Djokovic (2019, 2020, 2022*).

Become The Fifth Player to Win 3 Consecutive Wimbledon Titles in the Open Era

He would join Federer, Djokovic, Pete Sampras, and Borg as the only men in the Open Era to achieve a Wimbledon three-peat.

Seal Entry Into Elite Company with 3+ Wimbledon Titles

Alcaraz could join a distinguished club of six men who’ve won Wimbledon at least three times in the Open Era:

Federer (8), Sampras (7), Djokovic (7), Borg (5), McEnroe (3), Becker (3).

Register Best Grand Slam Final Win Rate in the Open Era

Alcaraz is currently 5-for-5 in Grand Slam finals. A sixth straight win would extend his record win percentage and bring him one step closer to Richard Sears’ all-time record (7/7 in the Amateur era).
