Arne Slot has revealed what Jurgen Klopp said to him after Liverpool won the Premier League title.
The Reds lifted their second Premier League title on Sunday after beating Tottenham 5-1 at Anfield.
Klopp had encouraged fans to get behind his successor, even singing his name on the final day of last season, and offered him praise after his success.
The German is the only other manager to lead Liverpool to a Premier League title, having done so in 2020.
Slot said: ‘What did he have to say? What most of them said, congratulations, now you know how special of a club it is, now you are part of history, these kind of things.
‘He was really happy for me, for the players, for the staff, for the fans, like we all know Jurgen.
Arne Slot says Jurgen Klopp told him he has gone down in history after winning the league

Klopp was a cheerleader for the Dutchman even before he handed the reins to him
‘I’ve got a few (messages) but he was the most famous one.’
Klopp will return to Liverpool on May 23 for the LFC Foundation’s Annual Gala as an honorary ambassador and guest speaker.
Fans will also hope he hangs around until May 25, when they will welcome Crystal Palace to Anfield and lift the Premier League trophy.
As their last league trophy lift was during Covid at an empty Anfield, this will be the first time they have been able to do so in front of fans for 35 years.
Slot returned the favour of singing Klopp’s name after they thrashed Tottenham, with the Anfield faithful joining in.
The Dutchman, who is only the fifth manager to win the title in his debut Premier League season, was also asked how he refocuses his team after their celebrations.
Liverpool still have to play Chelsea, Arsenal, Brighton, and Palace.
‘It’s nice that we play some very strong teams so that gives an immediate challenge to those games,’ he said.

Liverpool were back on the grass at the AXA Training Centre on Wednesday after two days off

Slot insists the remaining games are ‘the start of next season’ and that things cannot peter out
‘It’s the end of the season but we also have to look at this as the start of next season already.
‘It’s Chelsea away first. We played them earlier in the season and I am completely surprised if I look at the gap we have with them at the moment, because at that moment in time, they were the better team on the pitch.
‘But we found a way to win and that is a quality that we didn’t need a lot beause mostly we were the better team on the pitch, but that game we had to suffer more than any other game maybe, so to be so many points ahead of them is a big compliment for this club.’
Slot handed his players some time off on Monday and Tuesday but they were back at the AXA Training Centre on Wednesday as they bid to get even more out of the season.
The Reds have faced accusations that they have won the league in an uncompetitive year, but reaching the tally of 94 points, which they can do if they win all their remaining games, will go some way to silencing the remaining critics.
They also still have the outstanding issue of Trent Alexander-Arnold’s contract to sort.
