WWE superstar Rey Mysterio has shared a hilarious anecdote about how the Stamford-based wrestling promotion had once asked him to stop with the themed ring gears. The wrestling veteran has wowed the WWE Universe with his eye-catching ring attires throughout his career. He recently narrated an amusing story during an interview with Adrian Hernandez of Unlikely about him using Marvel/DC-inspired gear. Mysterio revealed how at one point, WWE started receiving cease and desist letters. “I did Batman, Spider-Man, and I carried that with me to WWE until they told me, ‘Hey, maybe you’ve got to stop a little bit because we’re getting cease and desist letters.’” he said, as per The Fightful.
Rey Mysterio explained how WWE had to shut him down temporarily because of his outfits. “Actually, WWE had to shut me down for a minute because I was getting too exaggerated,” he said. “It’s my logo, I’m just using their colours and maybe a Captain America star here and the gloves, but I don’t change anything. With this outfit, I have a dope idea I want to put into work and I’m hoping I’m able to bust it out,” he said.
From his Joker attire at WrestleMania 25 to his Flash gear at WrestleMania 20, Rey Mysterio superstar has always elated fans with his wardrobe choices. Speaking further about his outfits, the veteran revealed how superhero characters always served as inspirations. “Overall, it’s always been an inspiration. When I did the first one, I was in AAA. I did a Superman outfit. I used to wear tights and trunks over the tights and the logo on the trunks had the Superman logo with the ? and the colours. I just wore a red cape. People got what I was trying to do,” he said.
Rey Mysterio has established himself as one of WWE’s greatest-ever superstars. The high-flying wrestler has done it all in the Stamford-based company in the last three decades. He is a former WWE Championship and a two-time World Heavyweight Champion. The masked wrestler has won the men’s Royal Rumble match once and the tag-team championship five times. Mysterio also held the United States and Intercontinental titles. He’s both a Triple Crown Champion and a Grand Slam Champion in the WWE. In 2023, Mysterio was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, ahead of WrestleMania 39.
