Yuzvendra Chahal’s brilliant hat-trick helped Punjab Kings (PBKS) bowl out Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for 190 in their 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) clash at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Wednesday.
CSK crumbled from 184/6 to 190 all out in a space of seven deliveries with Chahal as the primary wrecker.
With a wicket already in the over, Chahal dismissed Deepak Hooda and then removed Impact Player Anshul Kamboj on the first ball, foxing him with a skiddy leg-break. On the final ball of the 19th over, he lured Noor Ahmad into a failed big shot, caught smartly by Jansen near the inner ring.
It was a perfect storm at the death — three wickets in three balls, claiming the 11th hat-trick in IPL history, first hat-trick since 2023, and second for Chahal in IPL.

Yuzvendra Chahal was elated after his hat-trick, as he said: “Feeling very good, it was the 19th over and in front of me was Mahi bhai, felt it could go either way, but the plan was to go for wickets. Five fielders were inside and the plan was to bowl on the stumps and also to bowl wide, not bowl easy balls and play with the batter’s mind. It came from the memes and I had planned to do this celebration if I take a five-fer or a hat-trick. It is not easy, 190 is a good score, when the ball is old, it turns, still a good total to chase.”
