A heartfelt conversation between India skipper Rohit Sharma and Lucknow Super Giants’ Abdul Samad has gone viral on social media, where the former is seen imparting some valuable batting lessons to the youngster, ahead of their match on Sunday, April 27, in Mumbai.
This is not the first time that a youngster has been seen with Rohit, with Abhishek Sharma also seen speaking to him after a game between Mumbai and the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Likewise, Ashutosh Sharma has been seen speaking to former India captain MS Dhoni and Vipraj Nigam with ace India batter Virat Kohli.
“Hit it either off this leg or off that leg. You know why I’m saying this, it’s because every wicket has a pace. It’s different every day. Today the humidity is more, so there will be moisture,” Rohit told Samad in a video shared by LSG.
“If it’s less humid and more windy, then the pitch is better to bat on. You won’t get that knowledge until the match starts,” Rohit said.
The India skipper achieved some form in the Indian Premier League after a rough start with consecutive scores of 76* and 70 in the last week.
“Whatever ability you have, whatever talent, whatever technique, some things don’t work without technique, let’s accept that. Tu mere jaisa nahin khel sakta, mein tere jaisa nahin khel sakta (You can’t play like me, I can’t play like you),” Rohit said.
“Tera apna ek talent hai (You have your talent). If I go to copy you or you try to copy me, or if I go to copy his technique or his technique, life will pass by in that time. Most important is what is up here,” Rohit added.
Meanwhile, MI are peaking just at the right time and is firing on all cylinders. The form of mainstays such as Rohit, Suryakumar Yadav, Trent Boult and even Hardik Pandya would pose a lot of threat to Mumbai’s opponents going forward.
Getting through the power play while putting away the bad balls — something that Rohit was doing even when he was not getting big runs — has helped him score 76 not out and 70 in his last two outings.
