It seems as if the skipper is ready to get back to action, as Rohit was spotted leaving for Australia with his wife coming along to bid adieu.
With the first Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy taking a fascinating turn for the better for India, more good news follows as Rohit Sharma has left for Australia to join the Indian team on Saturday.
India captain Rohit Sharma and his wife Ritika Sajdeh officially announced the birth of their second child last Saturday.
In an Instagram post, Rohit and Ritika shared the news with an animated picture of his four-member family after the addition of a new member. “FAMILY – the one where we are FOUR,” read the caption on the photo while the caption on the post marked the birth date – “15.11.2024″.
Earlier, it was Rohit who had hinted at the new addition to his family when he confirmed that he was not sure about playing the first Test of the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia starting in Perth on November 22.
Now though, it seems as if the skipper is ready to get back to action, as Rohit was spotted leaving for Australia with his wife coming along to bid adieu.
Star Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah has taken over the reigns from Rohit in his absence as he continues to lead by example in the first Test in Perth.
Bumrah picked up four wickets on Day 1 of the match and he completed his five-wicket haul by getting rid of Alex Carey on the first ball of his spell on the second day, enroute to bowling Australia out for a meagre 104, following India’s first innings collapse earlier in Day 1 for just 150.
By taking Carey’s wicket in the morning session of the second day’s play, Bumrah not only completed his first five-wicket haul as India captain but also became the first Indian pacer to take 50 wickets in a single edition of the WTC, with only Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja having managed to achieve the feat earlier.
Following Bumrah’s brilliance, Indian opening batters Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul continued to build on India’s second chance at taking control, as they notched up a wondrous unbeaten 172-run stand to build a dominating 218 run lead by the end of Day 2 at Perth.
