Roy Keane tore into Marcus Rashford on Wednesday night as he said the Manchester United forward’s ‘general play as a footballer is shocking’.

United lost 2-0 at Arsenal in Wednesday’s Premier League main event thanks to second-half goals from Jurrien Timber and William Saliba.

Rashford began the game on the bench before entering the action as a substitute in the 58th minute.

The 26-year-old touched the ball 22 times during his cameo and failed to produce any shots or key passes.

Former United captain Keane watched the game alongside Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher and Ian Wright. The quartet were hosting a YouTube watch-along for The Overlap.

During the second half, Keane fumed: ‘I tell you what, Rashford has come on, his general play as a footballer is shocking. Watch his header there.’

Reacting to Keane’s comment, Carragher appearing to mutter ‘MailOnline’ – seemingly to suggest that this publication would likely be interested in what had just been 

United then kicked the ball out of play and Keane exploded: ‘You know what that is, rubbish! That is f***ing rubbish, kicks it out of play.’

Neville later hit at at United for conceding from a simple set-piece.

‘That can’t happen, that,’ said Neville. ‘It’s a looped corner. You do scratch your head, you’re there as a coach and spend hours going through these corners.’

On the overall result, Keane concluded: ‘United deserve that. One shot on target.’
