Ryan Seacrest’s ex-girlfriend left seriously injured after swallowing shards of plastic on American Airlines flight, lawsuit claims

Ryan Seacrest’s ex Shana Wall is suing American Airlines over a drink she said was spiked with plastic. 

Wall, 51, filed the lawsuit at the Manhattan Supreme Court Monday, alleging she suffered damage to her throat, vocal chords, and digestive tract as a results of the plastic shards.

The suit also claimed the incident left her bedridden and unable to work for month, and left her requiring ongoing medical care.

A certified sommelier based in Manhattan, Wall is seeking unspecified damages over the incident, which reportedly happened May 1. 

She dated the television host in the early 2000s, and wrote that American Airlines ‘had a duty to provide beverages and food that was uncontaminated and fit for consumption.’ Seacrest, 49, recently split from 27-year-old model Aubrey Paige.

‘[American] created the dangerous, defective and unsafe condition on the airplane,’ an excerpt of the lawsuit, first reported by The New York Post, read.

‘[Wall] was served a drink in a glass containing broken plastic and shards, [causing] severe injury to her throat, esophagus, vocal cords and digestive system.

‘[American] is strictly liable due to its providing a beverage to the Plaintiff which was contaminated and unfit for human consumption.’

The former ‘Amazing Race’ contestant added how the incident happened on an American Airlines flight from John F. Kennedy International Airport, while offering some insight as to the alleged injuries she suffered as a result.

An excerpt claimed: ‘She was caused to be sick, sore, lame and disabled; was confined to home and bed; was caused to sustain a loss of enjoyment of life.

‘She became incapacitated from the duties of her occupation, sustaining wage and economic loss, [and] has incurred, and will in the future continue to incur, expenses for the treatment of her injuries.

‘She became obligated to expend monies for physicians’ services and other medical care and treatment,’ the documents added. 

The suit concluded by demanding damages from the airline for the alleged negligence. No other detail was provided.

 

Wall dated Seacrest from 2003 to 2005, and originally hails from California.

In the years since, Seacrest has dated fitness influencer Shayna Taylor, Hilary Cruz, Renée Hall, Julianne Hough, Jasmine Waltz, and Teri Hatcher, all of which flamed out.

Most recently, the original American Idol host dated Hough, going public with their relationship in May 2021.

At the time, the pair were spotted on Memorial Day at a party in the Hamptons, and a couple years later, on Seacrest’s last day on Live! With Kelly and Ryan in April 2023, Aubrey posted a tribute on Instagram with three photos.

‘Ryan, never have I ever met a more inspiring man,’ she wrote. ‘You make it look so easy, but the truth is there is just nobody quite like you. I am so beyond proud of you. Not just for your work ethic, but for your caring heart and the genuine love that you give to others.’

Paige continued: ‘I am so excited for this next chapter of your life and our life. May it be filled with total presence, joy and relaxation in every single moment. The best is yet to come. Cheers. Love ya babe.’

In December, breakup rumors about the couple swirled as Aubrey posted a pic of her celebrating with her family minus Ryan.

She also failed to post a birthday message to the New Year’s Rockin’ Eve host when he turned 49 on Christmas Eve. 

A rep for Seacrest confirmed the split to DailyMail.com back in April. 

A source told people at the time of the split: ‘After three beautiful years together, Ryan and Aubrey have mutually decided to part ways.

‘They plan to stay in each other’s lives as good friends and support one another’s endeavors.’ 

Shortly after the breakup, Paige shared a video of herself in the pool and enjoying a glass of wine alongside the caption: ‘[Shoutout] to my haters, this one’s for you. Happy #winewednesday.’

The reel on her Instagram page was also accompanied by an audio from Nicki Minaj in a past interview, in which she said: ‘I am fully aware what y’all say about me. No. 1. And I don’t give a f***.’ 

Earlier this month, another Seacrest ex, Hough, gushed about her whirlwind romance with the host, explaining that she was head-over-heels for the TV host and experienced ‘things I didn’t even know existed’ during their three year fling that started in 2010. 

‘I would imagine it would be so exciting and so privileged and so romantic and then also I would feel like I was losing myself to all of that,’ Dax Shepard asked her last week on his Armchair Expert podcast.

Julianne responded: ‘That was exactly the dynamic. The rug was swept up from underneath me, and I was just flying and I was experiencing things that I didn’t even know existed.’

She admitted, ‘I had this insecurity that I was like, “I don’t ever want anybody to think that I’m with him for this reason.” 

‘And so I then started playing smaller. I know that that was his experience in past situations and stuff, and so I again overcompensated, [I] was malleable to fit into exactly what somebody needed me to be for them to be happy.’

The starlet then confessed to feeling ‘oblivious’ and ‘disassociated’ during their 2010 to 2013 relationship, but realized that she and Seacrest’s careers drifted them apart. 

‘I had no idea that was, like, a repeated pattern. Eventually, I remember when I decided to break things off, I had a lot of these Brentwood moms and producers in that world that were like, “What are you doing?” And I was like, “What do you mean?” 

‘They’re like, “Your life is completely set up.” And I was like, “But I didn’t build it.” I was like, “I need to create this. Competitively, it’s not mine. I need to feel the pride of doing it.”‘ 

Wall, meanwhile, works as a contributor to the men’s magazine Best Life, and has also appeared in shows like Entourage. Her social media is filled with her enjoying posh tastings across the globe. She is not married and has no kids.
