Sabyasachi Mukherjee made Shah Rukh Khan’s grand Met Gala debut perfect.

Sabyasachi Mukherjee made a historic second appearance at the 2025 MET Gala. Styled in his own design, Sabyasachi’s blue carpet look featured a cream quilted long coat styled over black pants, kamarbandh and a white shirt. He completed the look with a hat enhanced with a feathered bejewelled brooch.
On designing for King Khan, Sabyasachi expressed how elated he was celebrating Shah Rukh Khan at the MET Gala this year. Keeping the dress code theme ‘Tailored for You’, which was a nod to the exhibition theme Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, Sabyasachi chose to interpret Black Dandy by demonstrating Shah Rukh’s super stardom on a global stage.
Shah Rukh who expressed that he loves wearing only black and white and conveyed the same to Sabyasachi, who in return designed something which was comfortable for King Khan. Shah Rukh also gave a special shoutout to the Bengal Tiger Head cane he carried off with elan on the MET Gala carpet. Shah Rukh walked like a King on the carpet with the Bengal Tiger Head cane crafted in 18k gold with tourmalines, sapphires, old mine cut and brilliant cut diamonds.
“Shah Rukh Khan is one of the greatest superstars in the world. A cinematic hero, his blockbuster performances and leading-man charisma have created a legendary international fan following. My interpretation of the Black Dandy is demonstrating his super stardom on a global stage. Dressed in classic menswear with the maximalist flourish of Sabyasachi, Shah Rukh Khan is a magician, superstar and icon. Period,” expressed Sabyasachi, on his Instagram account.
Shah Rukh Khan wowed everyone on the Met Gala carpet, when she appeared in a floor length elongated coat in Tasmanian superfine wool with monogrammed, Japanese horn buttons. Sabyasachi shared that the coat is hand canvassed, single breasted with a peak collar and wide lapels. Shah Rukh paired it with a crepe de chine silk shirt and tailored superfine wool trousers. Shah Rukh completed the bespoke style with a pleated satin kamarbandh.
The highlight of Shah Rukh’s MET Gala look was the custom stack necklaces featuring the huge K and diamond studded SRK pendant that had everyone’s attention. A memorable debut fit for a King, Shah Rukh and Sabyasachi’s collaboration was a power-packed one that will go down in history.
MET Gala 2025 carpet was also graced by renowned Indian celebrities including Kiara Advani, Manish Malhotra and Diljit Dosanjh who too made their debut this year. Also seen making a statement in their respective dapper styles were Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Rihanna, Zendaya, Gigi Hadid, Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner among others.
