Samsung has offered the mode that allows you to double up the phone into a powerful computer.
Samsung is taking a long time to bring its Android 15-based One UI version to the devices. The company is likely to introduce it with the new Galaxy S25 series that is rumoured to launch in January 2025. But some of the big changes coming to the One UI 7 version could leave people with confusion about how Samsung is planning for its future One UI releases.
Samsung DeX Mode For PC Linking Coming To End?
Samsung is reportedly cutting the support for its PC link mode called DeX with the One UI 7 version. The news is not exactly confirmed by the brand but recent hints suggest the change is inevitable.
Samsung is one of the few brands out there that has realised the value of a mobile-to-desktop linking and for that it has offered the DeX on its powerful phones. You can actually project your mobile phone’s screen on the big monitor and even seamlessly transfer files between the two devices. But the Galaxy S25 models are unlikely to have this feature.
The update comes via a Samsung website page, where it says, DeX for PC on Windows will end support from the One UI 7 version. The app on Windows for DeX will stop working, and it seems Samsung has an alternative in place for people who still want to use the functionality.
Windows PCs now come with their own Link to Windows feature that is Microsoft’s native linking feature between a phone and a PC. It seemingly would be replacing the DeX Windows app, and allow people to continue to use the feature through this app in the coming months. The beta One UI 7 version should be rolling out soon and we’ll get a better idea about this change when it is available to test.
