Television sensation Sanchita Ugale is currently winning hearts with her stint as Sukoon in the popular drama Dilwali Dulha Le Jayegi. The actress recently shared insights into the challenges she faces while portraying a character that is hugely different from her own personality. In a conversation with the India Forums, she candidly spoke about how she transformed herself into Sukoon and what her character’s main emotional anchor is.
Speaking about the nuances of her role, Sanchita explained, “If we compare Sanchita with Sukoon… then, to be honest, Sanchita takes stress from a lot of things in her life. I keep myself happy, but not exactly like Sukoon does. So there are a lot of things which make Sanchita different from Sukoon, making the character convincing to the audience.”
On being asked about her preparation process for transforming into her role, the Chhaava actress emphasised the importance of the script. “Reading the script helps me a lot. I believe the content is the king. So I try to read the script given to me several times till I completely understand it. Later, I try to understand the context and the situation of the scene we shall be performing,” she explained.
Sanchita further elaborated on her method, and said, “I also try my level best to live the character that my directors want me to see as. I work on the psyche of my character, like how Sukoon will react in a certain situation, her likes and dislikes, her expectations and acceptances, her life history, her way of looking at life, her relation with every other character she is having in her life.”
In the same conversation, she also highlighted her character’s main emotional anchor, stating, “There is a dominating emotion among all other emotions which every character has individually. Like someone looks very happy all the time, while someone looks and portrays a mysterious look most of the time. In the same way, I tried to hold that one single dominating emotion of Sukoon. In this, she lives the most of her life, enjoys staying happy all the time and takes no stress, she is innocent and bubbly. She is straight on the face, nothing double-faced. She does not carry any grudges about anything or anyone.”
Prior to her compelling portrayal of Sukoon in Dilwali Dulha Le Jayegi, Sanchita Ugale garnered recognition for her roles in popular shows like Kumkum Bhagya and Wagle Ki Duniya. She has also made her mark in the film industry, playing the role of Tarabai in Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava. She has also been part of Manoj Bajpayee’s Silence 2 and Crime Aaj Kal featuring Vikrant Massey, showcasing her versatility as an actress across different mediums.
