Sanjeev Kapoor shared a fun story from his early days on TV and opened up about his special bond with Chef Harpal Singh Sokhi.

Sanjeev Kapoor introduced cooking shows in India and became a household name with Khana Khazana in the 90s. Recently, the celebrated chef shared a fun story from his early days on TV and opened up about his special bond with Chef Harpal Singh Sokhi, who is currently a judge on Laughter Chefs. Kapoor revealed that their friendship started when they both worked together at the same hotel. He recalled how, after leaving his executive chef position in the restaurant, Harpal was one of the first chefs to join him for his new cooking show. The two later worked together on Turban Tadka, after setting up a studio in Sanjeev Kapoor‘s office. Kapoor also mentioned that it took nearly a year to complete the 15-16 episodes of the show.
While appearing on Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa’s podcast, the celebrity chef said, “Harpal’s story, it’s like a whole book for us. So, when I was working as a chef at a hotel, Harpal worked at the same hotel where I was the Executive Chef. When I left that job, one of the first chefs who worked with me was Harpal. Now, we were planning to launch a TV channel and we were thinking, ‘How will we get all the different chefs?’ So, we brought in Harpal as well. We set up a studio in our office for the show Turban Tadka. I think it took almost a year to shoot the first 15-16 episodes.”
“I still remember when we were shooting, I went to our office studio, and when I entered, Harpal became quiet. I asked him, ‘What happened?’ and he said, ‘You came in.’ Then he asked me, ‘How do you speak like that, just keep talking without any reason? How do you do that on TV?’ I said, ‘There’s nothing, don’t think about it.’ I gave him an example, ‘It’s like when I say salt to taste, everyone says salt to taste. But in Punjabi, it’s just salt, I say whatever comes to my mind, I don’t stay quiet, I just keep talking’.” Sanjeev Kapoor explained.
Bharti Singh then praised Sanjeev Kapoor, while saying that both his nature and his cooking are amazing. Bharti then teased Chef Harpal Singh Sokhi and claimed that he hasn’t made them taste his food yet.
Most recently, Sanjeev Kapoor appeared in the finale episode of Celebrity Masterchef, where he announced Anupama star Gaurav Khanna as the winner and presented him with the trophy.
