Apart from delivering impactful performances and serving major fashion moments, Sanya Malhotra is also known for her gorgeous curly hair. The actor is often seen embracing her curls and the natural texture of her hair. She proudly flaunts her curls and makes them the statement piece in most of her looks. In a recent interview, the actor revealed how she takes care of her curls.
In a conversation with Tweak India, Sanya Malhotra gave a sneak peek into her curly hair routine. She said, “I wash my hair and condition it. I use a wet brush and gently comb through my hair. I do my curly hair routine when my hair is drenched with water. First, I apply curl cream and then scrunch the sections. As I’m doing that, I also seal it with some hair gel. I use a strong-hold gel for Mumbai because the weather is humid here, and it gets frizzy quickly. Next, I diffuse my hair and break the cast with a hair oil to open it up and add volume.”
Inspired by Sanya’s routine, here are 7 key things to keep in mind when taking care of curly hair in Indian weather.
Hydration is Key: Indian weather, especially in hot and humid conditions, can lead to dehydration. Curly hair tends to be drier, so keeping it moisturized is crucial. Opt for leave-in conditioners, deep moisturizers, and oils.
Use a Sulfate-Free Shampoo: Harsh chemicals like sulfates in shampoos can strip the hair of its natural oils, which is especially problematic in dry heat. Look for sulfate-free shampoos that cleanse without drying your curls out.
Avoid Heat Styling: Excessive use of straighteners, curling irons, or blow dryers can lead to damaged curls. Embrace the curl and air-dry when possible.
Protect from UV Rays: The strong sun can damage your curls, causing frizz and dryness. Use hair products with UV protection or wear a hat/scarf to shield your hair when outdoors for extended periods.
Opt for Humidity-Resistant Products: High humidity levels, especially during the monsoon season, can make your curls frizz uncontrollably. Choose anti-frizz or humidity-resistant hair gels and creams to keep your curls defined and smooth despite the moisture in the air.
Trim Regularly: Regular trims help to keep your curls looking healthy and avoid split ends. Curly hair can easily get unruly, and trimming every 6-8 weeks ensures your curls stay bouncy and manageable, especially with the heat and humidity.
Protective Hairstyles: If you’re going to be out in the heat or humidity for a long time, consider protective hairstyles like braids or buns. These styles help reduce frizz and protect your curls.
