A California man arrested while naked for killing a teenager was discovered to be the son of a convicted murderer.

Zuberi Sharp, 24, was hunted down by deputies in connection to the death of a 15-year-old boy – possibly his very own brother – before he was captured on the football field of Ventura County high school on Thursday night.

In a shocking twist, the suspect was later identified as the son of Calvin Sharp, a convicted killer who murdered six-year-old Sev’n Molina in 2007 with a meat cleaver.

An ambulance responded to a home on the 400 block of Jeanne Court on Thursday evening at around 8pm after a call came in of a teenager that was struck in the head with an unknown object.

Ken Truitt, the captain of the Ventura County Sheriff’s department, said that the caller was hysterical and said that her baby had been murdered, Los Angeles Times reported.

Emergency responders found the minor with blunt-force trauma to the head.

The unidentified teenager – who a neighbor said was disabled and in a wheelchair – was pronounced dead as he was being transported to the hospital, KTLA5 reported.

The events prompted a search that was initially conducted around the home before it spanned throughout the rest of the neighborhood – with radio communications noting that deputies were chasing a man on foot who was armed with an ax.

‘The item used, which was an ax, is probably still in his possession,’ said one deputy in the radio communication.

Sharp was eventually spotted at Newbury Park High School where he was put in cuffs and arrested while on the school’s football field.

At the time of Sharp arrived at the school, it was crowded with student-athletes – leading to the initial belief that there was an active shooter on campus which prompted a lockdown measure that lasted around 15 minutes, VC Star reported.

It was later discovered that the alleged murderer was the son of a killer himself.

‘As soon as I saw the news this morning, I thought, “you gotta be kidding me”,’ Maeve Fox, the prosecutor who handled Sharp’s father’s case, told LA Times.

Calvin Sharp, the suspect’s father, was convicted 17 years ago of fatally stabbing six-year-old Sev’n Molina with a meat cleaver in Newbury park before stabbing the boy’s mother and neighbor during the violent frenzy.

Both women survived, and 44-year-old Sharp was arrested and sentenced to life in prison without parole in December of 2012.

Shortly after he killed Molina, he told investigators that he had gotten messages from XM Satellite Radio to kill the child and stab the boy’s mother, LA Times reported.

Calvin Sharp’s indictment also noted that he went to Sandra Ruiz’s apartment, the home of the boy’s mother, with the intention of forcing her to have sex with him despite dating and breaking up six months before the horrific attack.

When he arrived at the home, an argument erupted – leading to Calvin chasing Molina outside and stabbing him as his mother attempted to intervene.

Calvin ended up pleading guilty to the murder and is currently being housed at California State Prison, Sacramento.

Both Calvin and his son’s cases are eerily similar – both men were in their 20s when they were accused of vicious crimes against minors, LA Times reported.

They also both graduated from Newbury Park High School where they were student-athletes.

A neighbor told KTLA that the suspect in the most recent murder and the victim were brothers and that the suspect suffers from mental issues – adding that he had ‘lost touch with reality’.

Authorities are now asking that any person who may have a video of the suspect fleeing from the scene to send it to the sheriff’s department.

Sharp is currently being held without bail and is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday.
