Leader of Opposition in the Bihar assembly and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Thursday launched a scathing attack on NDA leaders during the ongoing monsoon session of the assembly alleging that the BJP members seemed to have planned an assault on him in advance.
“BJP MLA Janak Singh hurled expletives against me. Nobody stopped him. Later, Sanjay Singh charged in my direction and I was saved by my party colleagues,” Yadav claimed as quoted by news agency PTI while speaking to the reporters following the ruckus in the assembly.
He further slammed Bihar Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary and NDA MLAs for allegedly interrupting him while addressing the assembly today.
“During my speech in the assembly today, their ministers, Deputy CM, MLAs kept making statements in the middle. Today, it was proved that one deputy is a foul-mouthed and another is a loud-mouthed. I did not react even when my mother and father were abused,” he said as quoted by news agency ANI.

He further took a dig at Vijay Kumar Sinha, another deputy CM, over his statement that the RJD had “contract killings in its DNA and hence indulged in unruly behaviour”, saying that he is ready to surrender his licensed weapon. “The government can get me killed if that makes it happy,” he said.
“Yesterday, one of the deputy CMs was hurling abuses at us. Today, their leaders are doing the same. The BJP lacks the courage to face the truth. It is being seen for the first time that the ruling side is creating a ruckus. The opposition must ask questions,” he added.
Ruckus In Bihar Assembly
Chaos erupted in Bihar assembly on Thursday after the RJD leader raised the issue of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, on which he, along with other opposition leaders, were allowed to make statements in the pre-lunch session.
“Callous polling officials are throwing away enumeration forms on the streets. Journalists… who report these things are slapped with FIRs,” he alleged. This evoked an angry response from the ruling side, with its members trying to shout down the leader of the opposition.
Tempers had frayed on both sides with members storming into the well. An MLA was also seen ripping off the mic attached to his desk and charging menacingly towards the opposition members.
Subsequently, Speaker Nand Kishor Yadav adjourned the proceedings till 4 pm.
Tejashwi Yadav Warns Of Poll Boycott
Tejashwi Yadav on Thursday reiterated that the parties in the Mahagathbandhan could boycott the upcoming elections in Bihar if the Election Commission’s voter roll revision in Bihar was not stopped.
“We are keeping the option of boycotting Bihar assembly polls open,” RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav said, on the Special Intensive Revision row.
“When the winner in the election is already fixed, what is the use of conducting such an election?” he asked.
“Booth-level officers are putting their own signatures and thumb impressions, on behalf of voters, on enumeration forms. Blank forms are being used like waste paper,” he alleged.
“Independent journalists who point out these anomalies are getting slapped with FIRs. And the government is okay with all this because the EC is acting like a political tool of the ruling dispensation,” Yadav alleged.
On a question of him speaking to the other leaders, Tejashwi said, “We will speak to all leaders under the Mahagathbandhan.”
On Wednesday, too, Tejashwi Yadav had threatened to boycott the Bihar elections if the SIR exercise was not stopped.
Nitish Vs Tejashwi
The same day, a high drama had unfolded in the Bihar Assembly after Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s intervention during Yadav’s statement on the SIR triggered a heated exchange.
The situation escalated, prompting Speaker Nand Kishor Yadav to adjourn the proceedings till 2 pm, barely 30 minutes after the House had convened at 11 am.
The Speaker expressed disgust over the conduct of many opposition members, who used unparliamentary language, as also those on the ruling side, who refused to back down despite repeated requests.
Tejashwi Yadav, who was wearing a black T-shirt as a mark of protest against the Election Commission’s exercise in the state, was allowed by the Speaker to make a statement on the issue, which had evoked protests both inside and outside the House on Tuesday.
