Gunfire broke out at Lexington’s Blue Grass Airport in the US state of Kentucky on Sunday morning, triggering panic among passengers and staff, according to Daily Mail UK.
The incident occurred around 11.40 am (local time), with one man seriously injured and rushed to the hospital, according to the Lexington Fire Department.
Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene, with travellers seen running from the terminal building after the shooting began.
Local police are investigating the circumstances of the shooting.
Sharing their experience online, locals said that they saw dozens of police and other emergency vehicles rushing to the airport.
Part of the airport drive is shut down as local police investigate, but flights and airport operations have since returned to normal.
