Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s Shreyanka Patil (X)
It’s just the beginning of the third season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) but Royal Challengers Bengaluru are already facing a setback, as sources state that off-spinner Shreyanka Patil is likely to be ruled out for the entire season owing to injury concerns.
According to sources, unsold all-rounder Sneh Rana is set to be brought in as the replacement for Patil. Rana had earlier gone unsold in the WPL auction last year after being released by the Giants.
Shreyanka was included in many of RCB’s social media posts leading up to the tournament. But, the off-spinner took to social media herself earlier today, sharing a post hinting that perhaps not all was well with her.
“Heartbroken, but I will fly again,” Shreyanka wrote on X.
Shreyanka won the Purple Cap in the 2024 edition of the WPL, also taking four wickets in the final against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
