Simone Holtznagel has scattered the last of her late close friend and mentor Charlotte Dawson’s ashes at the beach, on the 11th anniversary of her death.
The 31-year-old model shared a photo to Instagram on Saturday of the scenic beachside where she scattered the last of Charlotte’s remains and captioned it with some heartfelt words.
‘After 11 years, early this morning I walked to my favourite beach with my baby to finally scatter the last of Charlotte’s ashes I have, after scattering them in meaningful places around the world over the last few years.’ Simone began.
‘The years between then and now have brought moments of clarity, grief, healing… everything in between.’
Simone added that even though her close friend had been gone for over a decade she still missed her every day.
‘Each year I have learned something new about how to carry her memory with me. What I have carried for all this time is the unique bond, one still alive within me even as her ashes are released back into the world.

‘Eleven years feels like a lifetime ago but also like it was yesterday. We think of you every day and I wish you were here.’

The model broke down on SAS Australia as she revealed she slipped into daily drinking to cope with the tragic loss of her friend.
Simone had a panic attack as she recalled the tragic events to the show’s Directing Staff, before explaining how much Charlotte, who she met when starring on ANTM in 2011, meant to her.
‘She really took me under her wing. She had a lot of high hopes for me. And she had a lot of s**t as well,’ she said.
‘And she passed away, a few years ago, I was about 20.
‘She was my mentor and very good friend. I remember that moment, I collapsed to the ground.’
Swatting away tears, she continued: ‘I was asked to go and identify her body because her family was in New Zealand. It was something I never thought I’d have to do, especially at 20. I think about it now and I was so little, I was a baby.
‘When I lost Charlotte I was 20. I never, ever thought that I would be like, I guess I was really naive. I never thought I would be affected by suicide. I never thought one of my friends would create suicide.’
Simone has also revealed that she still wears items of Charlotte’s clothing, including bras and underwear she was given by Charlotte’s sisters after her funeral.

‘I miss her… I am not angry any more, I just wish she was here,’ she told The Daily Telegraph at the time.
Simone also explained she chose to sponsor mental health charity Beyondblue on the show because of her history with Charlotte.
‘I chose Beyondblue obviously because they are for mental health, depression, suicide prevention, anxiety and obviously I have gone through losing a friend very publicly with that,’ she said.
