Apple introduced the revamped version of Siri at its WWDC 2024 event last year, but the enhanced voice assistant has yet to be launched. It has now been confirmed that the upgrade is scheduled for release in spring next year.
Voice-Controlled Experience With ‘App Intents’
According to a report by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, the upgraded Siri will feature ‘App Intents’, a capability that transforms it into a true hands-free controller for the iPhone. With this, users will be able to carry out a wide range of tasks using only voice commands, such as finding a specific photo, editing it, and sending it, without needing to touch the screen.
Siri To Work Seamlessly Within Apps
One of the major highlights of this upgrade is Siri’s ability to function within apps, including third-party platforms. For instance, it will be able to comment on Instagram posts, scroll through shopping apps, and add items to the basket.

Gradual Rollout After Thorough Testing
Apple reportedly plans a staggered rollout, introducing the new Siri features only after extensive testing to ensure they are compatible with third-party apps. As a result, the functionality will not be released to all users at once.
Instead, Apple will initially test it with a limited group of users and apps, including popular platforms such as Uber, AllTrails, Threads, Temu, Amazon, YouTube, Facebook, WhatsApp, and several games. Testing will also involve Apple’s native apps.
A Big Step Forward In AI Integration
This new version of Siri is expected to greatly improve the voice assistant experience and make iPhones easier to use. If the upgrade proves successful, it could represent a major leap forward for Apple in the area of AI integration, setting the stage for more advanced voice control and app interaction in the future.
