With the aim of making banking accessible to every Indian, slice has launched the slice UPI credit card, a groundbreaking product set to revolutionize credit access in India. Additionally, slice has inaugurated India’s first UPI-powered physical bank branch and ATM, introducing a new banking experience centred around simplicity and efficiency.

The slice UPI credit card, free from any joining or annual fees, is crafted to be the ideal credit card for everyone. It offers a seamless credit experience akin to a regular UPI transaction. Users can easily scan QR codes or make UPI payments using their credit lines, and the card provides up to 3% cashback on all purchases. The unique ‘slice in 3’ feature allows users to split their spending into three interest-free instalments instantly.

After merging with NESFB, slice is uniquely positioned in the market, operating as a bank rather than relying on third-party partnerships. With strong roots in the Northeast, the move into Bengaluru marks an important step in slice’s physical expansion and growth across India.

“Credit on UPI is the next natural step for India’s spending habits,” said Rajan Bajaj, Founder and Executive Director of slice. “While the credit card is a 75-year-old product, it needs to be reimagined in India, with UPI as the catalyst, to reach its full potential. To make UPI credit cards impactful, we must get the credit aspect right, rather than just layering it over traditional credit cards.”

Bajaj further adds, “The real opportunity lies in delivering the right form of credit at the point of sale via a mobile interface for 300 million customers. Many merchants have never accepted credit cards before, so addressing fraud at scale while enabling credit for the creditworthy is crucial. With slice UPI ATMs, we aim to make depositing and withdrawing cash more cost-effective, making basic banking services economically viable for a billion Indians in the future.”

The Future of Banking Begins Today

slice’s new UPI-powered branch in Koramangala, Bengaluru, turns banking from a necessity into an experience. Customers can now visit the first digital bank branch to enjoy unparalleled convenience, speed, and ease of access.

Services include:

* Full UPI integration in every customer interaction

* Instant, streamlined customer onboarding

* Efficient self-service digital experiences

* UPI ATM services for seamless cash deposits and withdrawals

These innovations mark slice’s most daring step yet to shape a future of banking that is digitally native and built around the inclusiveness and universal accessibility of UPI.
