Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla revisits the iconic crushed silk fabric for Sonam Kapoor’s show stopping appearance at Mukesh Ambani’s Ganesh Darshan.
Sonam Kapoor and along with her husband, Anand Ahuja, were spotted at Mukesh Ambani’s Ganesh Darshan hosted at Antilia in Mumbai on September 7.
Sonam Kapoor’s style journey has been a masterclass in elegance. Looking radiant in a red ghagra set crafted in crushed silk, the traditional masterpiece was designed by ace designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla. The silhouette featured a ghagra skirt paired with a backless blouse with heavily beaded latkans. The latkans added a touch of modernity, while the matching dupatta provided a nod to tradition.
Crafting pieces that transcend time while creating a firm place in the zeitgeist of tomorrow, Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla once again win hearts with another ensemble. Thirty-six years ago, they pioneered the use of crushed silk in India, and now, they revisited this iconic fabric for Sonam Kapoor’s show-stopping appearance at Antilia.
Timelessness is a virtue that few designers can claim, but Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla’s revival of their debut crushed silk collection is a testament to their enduring legacy. The indulgent blooms of crushed silk evoke the opulence of a bygone era, which beautifully captures Sonam’s ethereal beauty and the designer duo’s craftsmanship in the classic silhouette.
While the silhouette is simple and festive friendly, it’s the impeccable styling that catches the eye. A Sonam Kapoor look is incomplete without a hint of drama. The drama comes in the form of the long dupatta wrapped asymmetrically on Sonam, leaving one side trailing behind her as she walks. The vibrant red alta on her feet accentuated with traditional anklets, the braided hair highlighted with accessories, everything was beautifully envisioned by celebrity stylist Rhea Kapoor and her team.
Sonam’s ensemble was elevated by intricate detailing, and her choice of earrings, crafted from rubies, pearls, and diamonds by Amrapali Jewels, lent an air of timeless elegance and unmatched sophistication.
On the auspicious day of Ganesh Chaturthi, the home of Mukesh and Nita Ambani was graced by an array of celebrities including Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, Kiara Advani, Sidharth Malhotra, Sara Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Ananya Panday, Alizeh, Genelia and Riteish Deshmukh, Kajol, Karan Johar, Sanjay Dutt, Shraddha Kapoor, Tamannaah Bhatia, Jackie Shroff, Tiger Shroff, Sachin Tendulkar, Suniel Shetty, Junaid Khan, Ibrahim Ali, Khan and Shanaya Kapoor, among others.
