Southern paradise city is named most popular ZIP code in the country

A southern paradise city has been named the most popular zip code in the US, with keen home buyers flocking there.

Katy, Texas – about 30 minutes outside of Houston – is the most favored city by homeowners, according to online real estate platform Opendoor.

The online company determined that Katy – zip code 77493 – is admired by many Americans after analyzing data from Multiple Listing Services (MLS) and ranking it based on the total number of homes that went under contract in 2024 within 90 days of being listed.

Nick Boniakowski, Opendoor’s Head of Agent Partnerships, told CNBC that the area rose to the top because of its overall affordability and job growth opportunities when compared to other major metro areas.

‘Katy has had a lot of new development and job growth. Having the diverse housing stock at some relatively affordable price points in addition to job growth is really a contributing factor to it being at the top of the list,’ Boniakowski revealed.
