Sports fans go wild for ‘greatest photo ever taken’ as Minnesota Twins share snap during rain delay: ‘Can’t be real’

Minnesota Twins fans could be forgiven for their frustration during a rain delay on Monday night – but it did provide one very memorable moment for those watching on.

As a storm passed through the city and left supporters sheltering from the weather, one brave photographer stepped out and captured some magic.

In a photo that some are now calling ‘the greatest of all-time’, the night sky of Minnesota can be seen with a rainbow across it, and thunder bolts criss-crossing through it.

‘That can’t be real,’ one fan wrote, while another added: ‘This is unbelievable bro.’

‘This gotta be one of the nicest MLB photos of all-time,’ one baseball observer noted, and another said: ‘I’m not joking when I say this might be one of the greatest pictures ever taken.’

The image was shared by the Minnesota Twins’ official X account, and quickly picked up thousands of likes and retweets, with fans unable to believe their eyes.

Some were quick to point out that the team might have been keen to divert attention from the fact they were 9-1 down against the Atlanta Braves at the time of the delay.

So far this season, the Twins are 72-58 and look well-set for a playoff spot.

The team is coming off the back of two straight series losses, though, against the Cardinals and Padres.
