Starlink internet is available through its satellite and now iPhone users can test the service to send images or listen to podcast.

Apple is offering select iPhone users to test to satellite internet service.

Starlink is making the headlines this week for multiple reasons and the latest is related to iPhones which will please many people. The SpaceX-owned satellite service has joined hands with Apple to make Starlink internet and other services to work on select iPhone models.

As you might recall, Apple launched its first satellite SOS service on the iPhone 14 model in the US a few years back with Globalstar and now having Starlink in its wing will further solidify its reach and performance levels via the satellite on the device.

Satellite Internet On Your iPhone

The report from Bloomberg this week says T-Mobile is already reaching out to its subscribers and giving them beta access to Starlink service on their iPhone. Elon Musk even mentioned the possible use of the satellite internet on the handset, and said that Starlink in its current form will let you access images, music, and podcasts while video support will be added in the future versions.

The report adds Apple has offered the Starlink support with the iOS 18.3 update which was released earlier this week. The new update brings a new satellite feature in the mobile data settings for the iPhone users, who can enable it and try out the beta Starlink service if they are on the T-Mobile network and have got an SMS from their operator.

Starlink internet does not come cheap but working with Apple is likely to allow iPhone users to try out the service for free in the short term and eventually move them to a priced tier.

The Elon Musk-owned company has also started testing its satellite-to-cell feature that will negate the use of ground towers and provide the internet without any geographical limits.

The testing for this form of internet service allows the company to expand its reach and not rely on countries to comply with the telecom regulations in some regions. Starlink has already deployed its satellites in space which is beaming the internet through towers, but going towerless and straight to the handset means you are quickly reducing the friction for the technology with the help of the satellites that already support the feature.
