USMNT head coach Mauricio Pochettino put his hand up and took responsibility for the defeat and explained that his decision to field the starting eleven he did on the day in order to give time to specific players.
“First of all it’s my responsibility the choice of the starting 11,” the Argentine coach said.
“I wanted to give minutes to certain players, but we were never in the game,” the 53-year-old added.

USMNT defender Walker Zimmerman refused to be discouraged by the result and rallied his teammates to improve in the months leading up to the forthcoming edition of the FIFA World Cup slated to be held in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
“It’s easy to look at one half and think this is all going to pieces, that we can’t come back from a result like this,” Zimmerman began.
“But look at the build-up to 2022 — we took down Morocco 3-0 and they made the semi-final. Things change. That was six months apart,” he explained.
“So it’s not the end of the world,” the 32-year-old said.
“We accept that it’s not good enough and we realize that. That’s where the disappointment comes in, but we have to flip the script and we’ve got to make sure we do not come out like that ever again,” he added.
