California lake’s giant ‘glory hole’ on full display for first time in 5 years
The enormous ‘glory hole’ in Napa County’s Lake Berryessa is visible for the first time since 2019. When the lake’s water level rises above 440 feet, this 72-foot wide circular drain prevents flooding by allowing excess water to to flow 200 feet straight down into Putah Creek. That’s what is happening now as heavy rains this winter
