Kajol’s sister Tanishaa Mukerji underwent a weight loss journey and she surprised her fans with her new avatar. In a recent interview, she opened up about her weight loss and also spoke about how women need to consider hormonal changes while taking care of their health.
In a conversation with The Male Feminist, Tanishaa Mukerji talked about how weight loss differs for men and women. She said, “I lost a lot of weight drastically in a very short period of time. Now, you can’t maintain abs for women for a long time. Fat is very important in a woman’s body. Fat creates estrogen production. A man can go down to about 14% body fat, but for women, that’s very low.”
Tanishaa continued, “In men’s bodies, there is only one hormone, testosterone, but women have 36,000 hormones. We are baby producers.” She mentioned how hormone fluctuations led her to put on weight after Neal N Nikki. She mentioned how she went on a restrictive no-carb and no-sugar diet. She said that these diets were not sustainable for her in the long run.
Inspired by Tanishaa, here are five important things women should consider before embarking on a weight loss journey.
- 1. Set Realistic Goals: It’s important to have a clear vision, but also to set achievable goals. Weight loss isn’t linear, and the process will come with ups and downs.
- 2. Focus on Health, Not Just Aesthetics: Weight loss should be about feeling your best and being healthy, rather than just changing your appearance. Embrace a holistic approach that includes mental and emotional well-being as well.
- 3. Create a Sustainable Plan: Extreme diets or intense exercise routines may work short-term, but they aren’t sustainable. Find a balanced eating plan and exercise routine that you can maintain long-term.
- 4. Be Patient with Yourself: Weight loss takes time, and the journey can sometimes feel frustrating. It’s important to practice self-compassion. Celebrate the small wins.
- 5. Listen to Your Body: Every body is different, and what works for one person might not work for you. Pay attention to how your body feels with different foods, workouts, and sleep patterns. Adjust your approach as needed.
