The Union Budget 2025 has delivered on a majority of key demands long pushed by the RSS-affiliated organisations, which shows a deep coordination, renewed cohesion between the ruling BJP and its ideological parent – the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.

With major tax relief for the middle class, incentives for the MSMEs, and some GST rationalisation, this year’s budget reflects the economic vision harboured by the RSS. This includes the one that prioritises domestic entrepreneurship, small businesses, and the second which demands financial relief for the common man.

In the run-up to the budget, multiple RSS-linked economic, education and trade-related wings had met the union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman and urged the government to address GST complexities, provide a stronger push for MSMEs, and ease the tax burden on the middle class, most of which found a place in Sitharaman’s announcements.

Complete Alignment

A senior RSS functionary said, “The tax slabs were restructured, offering relief to salaried professionals and small business owners. MSMEs received targeted incentives, issues raised by the affiliate organisation were addressed which reinforced the government’s push for an Atmanirbhar and Vikshit Bharat.”

“We are also expecting that the GST rationalisation will ease compliance and reduce the burden on small traders, which has been a key concern for our affiliate organisations like the Swadeshi Jagran Manch and Laghu Udyog Bharati,” he added.

For the BJP, this budget seems to be an economic blueprint giving a political signal of complete alignment with the Sangh’s economic priorities, ensuring that RSS’ ideological and electoral machinery remains firmly behind the party as it heads into a crucial election year.
