From skipping breakfast to indulging in rice and sambhar on cheat days, Shruti Haasan shares her favorite foods and love for tea over coffee.
Shruti Haasan’s diet consists of rice, potatoes but no coffee
Shruti Haasan turned 39 on January 28. In a 2020 chat with Bollywood Hungama, she opened up about her daily diet, sharing a mix of her favorite foods — from ghee and coconut oil to cooked veggies and teas. While Shruti mentioned she doesn’t eat much meat, she admitted her cheat-day indulgence is all about rice.
‘On my cheat days, it’s rice, rice, and more rice’
Shruti revealed, “I often skip breakfast, which is bad, but when I do eat, I prefer gluten-free toast or cereal. I enjoy green juices but don’t have them as often as I should. Lunch for me is usually a salad or a sandwich, as I absolutely love sandwiches. Dinner is light, but if I skip breakfast and have a light lunch, I end up with a heavier dinner. My snacks are mostly nuts, and since I’m not very gluten-tolerant, I stick to gluten-free rotis. On cheat days, I indulge in rice with potatoes — my favorite! I adore sambar sadam (sambhar rice) paired with potato curry.”
‘I don’t eat much meat, honestly’
Shruti shared, “I used to love seafood, but after developing a shellfish allergy, I cut back. While I am non-vegetarian, I don’t crave chicken or mutton regularly. That said, I do enjoy mutton and caviar occasionally. My ultimate favorite vegetable is potato. I love Indian-style cooked veggies but also enjoy raw veggies. I prefer coconut oil over ghee, and as a tea lover, I skip coffee entirely. My go-to choices are English breakfast tea, fruit-flavored teas, and even iced tea. I also have a soft spot for ice cream.”
