Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit said an adult male had been shot but it was an isolated incident with no threat to public safety

Terminal 1 of the Toronto Pearson International Airport in Canada went into full lockdown on Thursday, soon after a man was killed in a shooting incident involving a cop in the departures area.
According to reports, the incident took place just before 7 am, following which Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) said an adult male had been shot but the police officer was uninjured in the shooting incident. Peel Police reached the scene first and informed the SIU.

Officials said this is an isolated incident with no known threat to public safety. Peel Police told Global News Canada that they are “actively responding” to the incident in the Terminal 1 area.

Toronto Pearson Airport said passengers are being rerouted due to the police investigation in Terminal 1. “Due to a Peel Police investigation outside Terminal 1 departures, passengers and vehicles are being rerouted to enter and exit through T1 arrivals. We will provide updates throughout the morning,” it said in a social media post.
The airport later gave an update about the incident and said all flights continue to operate normally, but the Terminal 1 departures remains closed.

Passengers can also park at Terminal 3 and the Viscount Station Kiss and Fly lot and take the train to Terminal 1.
Peel Police arrived at the airport with vehicles and paramedics, who were seen performing CPR on one person in critical condition, as per information available. Due to the lockdown, people were forced to get out of their cars and walk to the terminal after highway access was cut off.
