The Voice judges left panicked as real-life couple Jenna and Yorke go ‘off script’ on air: ‘What’s happening?’

Fans of The Voice were given a very unexpected treat on Sunday night.

Contestants Jenna Hudson, 26, and Yorke Heath, 29, a real-life couple, were forced to co head to head in the episode’s battle rounds.

But the pair left the judges utterly stunned as Yorke went ‘off script’ to propose to Jenna after their performance.

‘I just have to say one thing, really quickly, sorry,’ Yorke said, with host Sonia Kruger exclaiming, ‘What’s happening?’

Shortly after the results were announced, Yorke took to the microphone and asked for everyone’s attention and for Jenna to join the stage.

He then set studio audience and mentor hearts a-flutter by going down on one knee and proposing to his ladylove.

‘I just have to say one thing, really quickly, sorry. Baby, can you please come down here for a second,’ he said.

‘I know we’ve just had a big battle and we were competing, but I think we found through that we work really well as a team,’ he continued.

The singer then dropped down on one knee and produced an engagement ring.

‘I want to be on your team forever. I love you so much. Will you marry me?’ he said.

‘Oh my god, yes!’ Jenna cried out, breaking down in tears.

The face-off was the first time a competing couple were nominated for a song battle against each other.

Battling it out to keep their slot on mentor Kate Miller Heidke’s team, Jenny and Yorke chose the Paramore track The Only Exception.

In the end it was Yorke who emerged triumphant besting Jenna in the singing stakes.

While admitting competing against her partner in front of a live studio audience was ‘strange’ Jenna added that she was happy with the result regardless.

It seemed strange at first, to be on stage in a battle against your long-term partner,’ she said.

‘But I really enjoyed it. I am so happy he won, he really deserves it. It really is his time to shine.’

Jenna added that the proposal came completely out of left-field.

‘I was so surprised when he asked me on stage, I had absolutely no idea what he was about to do,’ she said.

‘I felt a little awkward, as I remember thinking it was the Judges turn to talk, not ours!’ continued Jenna.

Thankfully, she said ‘yes’ and Yorke admitted that the wedding entertainment has already been secured with Guy Sebastian offering to sing at the couple’s wedding.

‘It all became official, when I saw all the judges running on stage, I saw LeAnn and Kate hugging Jenna,’ he said.

‘I was thrilled when Guy Sebastian came up to us and offered to sing at our wedding!’

‘I remember thinking, ‘don’t lose the Gerard McCabe ring,” he said.

‘I had it in my pocket all day and I was nervous it was going to fall out on stage, or that I would lose it.’
