Manchester United legend Gary Neville has admitted that Liverpool are the clear favourites to win the 2024/25 Premier League. Arne Slot’s men were absolutely unrelenting during their weekend clash against Tottenham Hotspur on December 22. The Reds went on a rampage winning the fixture 6-3 in London. The dominant display led to Neville describing Liverpool as the best team in the English top flight. “Liverpool are clearly the best team in the Premier League at this moment in time. They’re the clear favourites for the title,” he said on his podcast for SkySports as per multiple outlets.

Gary Neville also touched on Manchester City and Chelsea’s run in the ongoing league campaign. “Man City’s drop-off has been spectacular, I’m not sure anyone really knows how it’s gone so badly wrong. Chelsea had a tough game [at Everton] but they’re doing well and having a good season,” he said. The SkySports pundit opined that Liverpool must keep a lookout for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in the 2024/25 Premier League campaign. “I think the one team Liverpool need to watch are Arsenal,” he said.

While Gary Neville firmly believes in Liverpool’s chances of winning the league this season, he has also acknowledged the injury risk they face. “I think the biggest risk for them is injuries – if they were to lose [Virgil] van Dijk and [Mohamed] Salah that would hurt them,” Neville said.

In his concluding statement, Gary Neville further claimed that Liverpool had some major challenges coming up as they still weren’t quite clear to run away with the title. According to Neville, Liverpool would have to take a bigger lead to ensure their chances of winning the league. He admitted that Liverpool were by far the best team in England and the points table attested to that.

Mohammed Salah led Liverpool to a dominant victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last weekend. The Egyptian scored two times while also providing two assists for the Arne Slot-coached side on away turf. He will now be looking to lead The Reds to another win on December 27 when they host Leicester City at Anfield. Liverpool are currently leading the English top flight by four points with a game in hand. They will be looking to increase the point-gap to seven on Friday.
