The districts that the expressway will connect are Ghaziabad, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Kasganj, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Unnao and Kanpur.

The Ghaziabad-Kanpur Expressway is expected to be completed by 2026.

A significant project will be reportedly added to the ongoing expanding expressway network in Uttar Pradesh. According to the reports, a 380 km long greenfield expressway is under construction from Ghaziabad to Kanpur, which has been named Ghaziabad-Kanpur Expressway. This expressway will serve as a vital link, and reduce the distance from Ghaziabad to Kanpur to a great extent.

As per reports, it will also connect the 9 districts within Uttar Pradesh. These districts are Ghaziabad, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Kasganj, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Unnao, and Kanpur. Reportedly, as of now, the time taken to cover the distance from Delhi-Ghaziabad to Kanpur is 7-8 hours. As per the reports, after the construction, it will take only 5 hours and 30 minutes to complete the journey.

Apart from reducing the time taken to cover the distance, this expressway will serve other advantages. This will ease traffic and lead to the establishment of the industrial centres in the above-mentioned 9 districts. In the expressway plan, special areas are being identified for the construction of industries, which will promote regional development.

This expressway will reportedly connect with NH-9 (Ghaziabad-Hapur Highway) in the north and with the Kanpur-Lucknow Expressway in the south. Earlier there was a plan to build this project from Hapur to Kanpur. Now, a 60-kilometer-long connector road will be constructed to connect Hapur to Meerut Expressway. This will start better connectivity facilities for both Hapur and Meerut.

According to the reports, the 380 km long greenfield expressway’s initial construction will be confined to 4 lanes. This can be expanded to 6 lanes in the future. A notable feature of this expressway is that it can also be connected to Jewar Airport of Noida, also known as Noida International Airport, in the future. Due to this feature, the connectivity of Kanpur with Delhi or Ghaziabad will become easier.

According to reports, this Ghaziabad-Kanpur Expressway is expected to be completed by 2026. With the construction of the expressway, access from Delhi-NCR to Kanpur and other cities of UP will also become easier, which will bring a revolutionary change in the traffic and industrial scenario of Uttar Pradesh.
