A US sheriff described his attempts to track a group of mysterious drones hovering over his county, only to discover that they “easily” evaded his efforts, according to the New York Post.

Sheriff Michael Mastronardy of Ocean County claimed that his office deployed an “industrial-grade” drone on Thursday to track one of the 50 unmanned aerial vehicles reported by a local officer as “coming off the ocean.”

The officer promptly alerted state police, the FBI, and the US Coast Guard. Subsequently, a report from Coast Guard officials confirmed about 13 drones with eight-foot wingspans following one of their vessels.

Sheriff Mastronardy, while speaking with News Nation reporter Rich McHugh, said that these unusual drones, which don’t emit heat like standard models, were able to swiftly evade capture. Talking about the mysterious objects, McHugh said, “If this is not our military, then it’s even more scary.”

“These things look like they are fixed-wing and they have multiple lights. I’m not really sure how to process what I saw last night. Both the photographer and I were kind of stunned,” he added.

Dozens of unidentified drones have been reported flying over New Jersey, including a recent sighting of over 50 drones emerging from the Atlantic Ocean. The mysterious incidents have left the public and law enforcement baffled, prompting urgent calls for action from state and federal authorities.

The Ocean County Sheriff’s Department is actively investigating reports of mysterious drones described as fixed-wing aircraft equipped with multiple lights and wingspans measuring between 8 and 10 feet. Unlike standard drones, these devices emit no heat signature, making them exceptionally difficult to track and detect, further complicating efforts to determine their origin and purpose.
