Delhi’s former chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal, recently hosted a grand wedding for his daughter at the Kapurthala House in Lutyens’ Delhi on Friday. Kejriwal’s daughter Harshita tied the knot with her college friend Sambhav Jain. The wedding was attended by some of the biggest names in politics, including Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and former Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia. While the celebration was a much-talked-about affair, what has specifically caught everyone’s eye was the paan counter at the wedding.
In a now-viral video by content creator Bhukkhad Dil se, the influencer shared a video that gave social media users an inside glimpse into Arvind Kejriwal’s daughter’s wedding. The highlight of the event was the luxurious paan stall set up by Delhi’s famous Yamu’s Panchayat at the wedding. Amidst their multiple paan varieties, their signature gold-leaf coated paan was the star attraction.
Take a look at the video here.
Established in the 1950s in Delhi’s Connaught Place, Yamu’s Panchayat is dubbed as India’s First Paan Parlour. Their signature gold leaf, priced at Rs 600, includes Raffaelo chocolate, gulkand (rose petal preserve), saunf (fennel seeds), coconut shavings, dry dates, cloves, sweet chutney, and cherries – all wrapped in edible gold leaf. Apart from this, they sell some of the most innovative paan creations in the national capital, such as Strawberry Paan, Five Star Paan, White Chocolate Gundi Paan, KitKat Paan, and Fire Paan.
The wedding menu also had traditional food options such as curries, breads, and rice for the guests. The high-profile wedding saw performances by Bollywood singer Mika and a warm performance by Arvind Kejriwal and his wife Sunita. The video of the bride’s parents dancing to the Angaron Sa song from the film Pushpa 2 has gone viral on social media.
