A Chinese husband grew suspicious of his wife’s unusual behaviour, uncovering a shocking marriage fraud. The wife and her boyfriend, burdened with debt, conspired with accomplices to trap a man via a matchmaking app
In a shocking incident that has gone viral, a woman in China was reportedly pressuring her husband to cheat on her and pursue another woman as part of an elaborate con to part him with this money.
The incident, which occurred in Guizhou province, China, came to light when the husband grew suspicious of his wife’s unusual behaviour. The matter eventually reached the court in Longli County, where the woman herself admitted her actions.
According to a report by South China Morning Post, the wife was persuading her husband to be unfaithful. Just days into their marriage, she started making excuses to avoid living with him, raising the husband’s suspicions.
Matters escalated when two men, claiming to be the bride’s brothers, left her at her husband’s place. The husband, sensing something amiss, called the police. What followed left not only the husband but also the authorities stunned.
The Motive Behind the Deception
As it turned out, the woman and her boyfriend were heavily in debt. They collaborated with two accomplices who introduced them to the concept of marriage fraud. Using a matchmaking app, they ensnared a man, registered the marriage, and accepted 16 lakh yuan as bride money (dowry) along with jewellery worth around 6 lakh yuan.
To avoid returning the bride money, the woman devised a plan to compel her husband into infidelity. Under Chinese law, if a husband elopes with another woman, the bride is not required to return the bride money. However, the husband outsmarted the scheme, and their plan ultimately failed.
