In an X post, Bryan Johnson provided six suggestions for getting a good night’s sleep, such as establishing a wind-down routine, setting regular bedtimes, and cutting back on caffeine.

The last phase of non-REM (rapid eye movement) sleep is when deep sleep happens.

The type of sleep that helps you wake up feeling rejuvenated is called slow-wave sleep or deep sleep. Both our bodies and our minds benefit from getting enough sleep. Lack of it can lead to several problems, including difficulty focusing, decreased immunity, and irritability. Bryan Johnson, a 47-year-old software millionaire who spends millions of dollars reversing his age, recently spoke about his sleeping routine, which assures he receives ‘deep sleep’. On X (formerly Twitter), the tech millionaire shared six methods for getting deep sleep and how not getting enough of it might be bad for anyone’s health.

For those who are unaware, deep sleep happens during the last phase of non-REM (rapid eye movement) sleep. Most dreams occur during the REM phase of sleep. Your breathing is at its slowest while you’re asleep at this point.

According to the image provided by Bryan Johnson on X, he falls deeply asleep during the first phase of his sleeping cycle. “Deep sleep is one of the most power things you can do for heath and wellness. Missing it is very bad. Here’s how you can get it,” he wrote.

According to the tech millionaire, “Most deep sleep happens early in your sleep cycle.”

Explaining the advantages of deep sleep, Bryan Johnson states that “it is essential for physical restoration, muscle repair, immune function, and detoxifying the brain”.

In a series of tweets, the 47-year-old software millionaire also explained his sleeping pattern. “See in my data above that all of my deep sleep happened in the first 3rd of the night. Sometimes I’ll get a bit more deep sleep in the early parts of the morning too but it’s always heavily weighted towards the beginning of the night,” he wrote.

In addition, he went on to describe how to achieve deep sleep:

Bryan Johnson says that the last meal of the day should be eaten at least two hours before bed to “get deep sleep.” Try to get back to eight hours before bed, even if it’s just for testing. Also, try out various meal times to determine when it’s best for you.

A 30- to 60-minute wind-down routine is also beneficial. He recommended reading a book, practicing breathing exercises, meditation, or taking a walk.

He went on to say that it helps to “decide on your bedtime and then be on your bed +/- 30 minutes every day.”

Bryan Johnson also asserted that “Turn off screens. Lower house lights. Avoid blues. use amber and red light.”

The software millionaire’s fifth piece of advice was to refrain from using stimulants like caffeine at least 12 hours before bed.

Finally, he urged internet users to strive for 1-2 hours of sound sleep each night.
