Footy star Tom Burgess and his wife Tahlia Giumelli have been spotted for the first time with their newborn boy Alfie as they took him along on a trip to get coffee in Sydney on Thursday.
The delighted parents took their two-week-old bundle of joy to a cafe near their home in Cronulla, in Sydney’s south, after saying he was ‘built like a Burgess’ when he came into the world weighing a very healthy 4kg.
Customers at the cafe couldn’t help cracking a smile as the couple showed off their new arrival, who Tom took with him in a Bugaboo bassinet.
The newest member of the Burgess family had reportedly just met his uncle Sam, who made a stunning decision to fly to Australia for his induction into the NRL’s Hall of Fame despite being in the middle of coaching a footy team in England.
It was a huge ask for the Souths legend, who flew into Sydney on Monday night, just hours after leading his Warrington side to victory in a Super League clash.
He was due to get straight back on a plane on Thursday, but the whirlwind trip left him a little worse for wear.
‘I don’t know what day it is or what time it is,’ he told News Corp.
‘It has been great to be back. I saw my kids, saw my brothers, I will go see a few mates.’
Tahlia took to Instagram to announce their boy’s arrival on August 11.
‘Alfie Mark Burgess Born 8/8/24 at 4:04pm. Built like a Burgess weighing in at 4kgs and 54cms long,’ Tahlia, 30, wrote alongside images of the tot.
She added: ‘Our sweet little boy, the perfect addition to our family’.
Tahlia also explained that her man assisted in the birth before playing a game for the Rabbitohs.
‘Tom whipped on the gloves to help deliver our boy and then went from midwife assistant to football player and turned up in time to run out on the field and play with his team,’ she wrote alongside a video of the newborn.
On a third post, Tahlia explained that Alfie is a ‘family name’ and added, ‘He is already adored and spoilt by his two big sisters’.
‘Brought into the world with the help of dad, our amazing obstetrician and midwives, we are so incredibly thankful to them for allowing Tom to be a part of this beautiful moment,’ she said.
‘Will be soaking in all the newborn cuddles and enjoying this little newborn bubble.’
Last Wednesday, Tahlia gave her Instagram followers an insight into how she was doing after giving birth.
‘Something I have learnt over the years, especially after having my kids is how thankful I am for my body, stretch marks and all,’ she wrote.
‘My focus now isn’t the number on a scale or the size of my clothing but to heal and recover and to spend the next few months regaining my strength.
‘My fitness goals now are to achieve a body that can run around after my kids, carry Alfie until he’s ready to walk and genuinely just feel as healthy and as strong as possible so I can be the best parent I can be.’
The couple already have two older children, daughters Sophie, four, and Elodie, three.
They tied the knot in a stunning star-studded ceremony in a waterfront park in Sydney’s Watsons Bay in 2022.
In April 2017, it was revealed that the footballer had been dating the stunning model for six months.
In August 2019, they announced the arrival of their first child, a daughter named Sophie Heather.
